01 — Overview
Healthcare that comes to you.
Impact Health operates a mobile medical unit — bringing health screenings and services directly to communities. The challenge was designing the full visitor experience around a VR component: from the moment someone approached the vehicle to the moment they left, everything needed to feel calm, trustworthy, and purposeful.
This project spanned digital and physical — VR experience design, onboarding and offboarding UX, and the vehicle wrap that unified the whole thing visually. The goal was to make an unfamiliar format (mobile healthcare + VR) feel approachable and safe.
02 — Design Approach
Designing trust at every touchpoint.
Healthcare UX carries different stakes than most. Anxiety is a baseline — people are already uncertain before they interact with anything. Every design decision, from the colour palette to the language used in onboarding prompts, was made with that starting point in mind.
Onboarding & Offboarding
Clear, calm flows getting visitors oriented before the VR experience and grounded after. Designed to reduce uncertainty at each transition point — outside the vehicle, inside, in-headset, and back out again.
VR Experience
An immersive experience designed to complement the healthcare purpose — using the medium's strengths to create something memorable and positive while keeping the interaction accessible to first-time VR users of all ages.
Vehicle Wrap
The exterior wrap was the first impression and the last — it needed to signal professionalism and warmth from a distance, and tie together the visual identity of the full experience from the outside in.
The physical and digital had to feel like one thing, not two things sharing a space.
03 — Reflection
When context changes everything.
Designing in a healthcare context sharpened my thinking about emotional states as a design constraint. The same interaction that feels playful in a tourism setting feels jarring when someone is uncertain about their health. This project pushed me to be much more deliberate about tone — in copy, in visual language, and in the pacing of the experience itself.
The vehicle wrap work was also a good reminder that brand and UX aren't separate disciplines — the exterior of that vehicle was part of the user journey, and treating it as anything less would have undermined the experience before it started.
